PURPOSE
This online activity will identify and explore issues related to the practice of pediatric medicine in primary care and subspecialty settings.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Primary care physicians, pediatric subspecialists, and other health care professionals who provide care for pediatric patients should participate in this activity.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define Lyme disease, including the causative organism and route of spread.
  2. Compare and contrast the clinical manifestations of early localized disease, early disseminated disease and late disease.
  3. Formulate a management plan for the pediatric patient presenting with suspected Lyme disease.
  4. Counsel a family who is concerned about the possibility of “chronic Lyme disease.”
